IRONIC?
Students: Irony is defined as the opposite of what is expected. In this unit, I have tried to teach you about the persuasion of the media, and the power of words, whether written or spoken. What is ironic about this unit? Think deeply, and post your response in this section. Please print out your response in order to get credit. For EXTRA CREDIT: Respond to one peer's comments!

i think the ironic thing about this unit is the fact that teenagers these days seem to always say that they ARNT effected by the media. i know ive said that and corrected myself after. Plus i agree with ashlee when she says that the media gives us our identities...
such as...well apperently most people have their own theme or whatever. like....gothic or ghetto and what not...a label! everyone has a label...and it seems in my eyes to come from the media. like...actors and the new stlyes and stuff. but im not really sure how thats ironic.... i suppose the ironic thing would be that its obvious to everyone that the media had so much power over us and all the things they say and do and tell us arnt true and its a bunch of crap, but we listen to it anyway....i believe thats the ironic thing. ( i think politically they have an influence over how we see war starvation poverty and democracy in the world as well...not just over fashion and the way we think about ourselves as a person...i just kinda noticed that!) |

THE MOST IRONIC PART OF THIS WHOLE UNIT WOULD BE THAT, THERE USEING OUR IDEAS AND GIVING OUT OUR IDENTITES IN WHICH IS LIKE A WIN WIN SITIUATION . ITS LIKE GIVEING AND THEN IT GET BACK NOTTING REALLY CHANGES AS LONG AS THEY PERSUASIVE US INTO BY OR DOING WHAT THEY HAVE TO OFFER. IT REALLY MAKES ME THINK TWICE ABOUT THE MEDIA AND OURSELVES.

i think that this is ironic to the unit because the unit tells us about how people are influencing us to buy things and we're trying to sell something to the community about making our community a safe and clean environment.

the thing that is ironic about this unit is that the media is selling our identity to ourselves
